Obituary for Leonard Eugene Korman

Leonard Eugene Korman, 90, of Bellefonte; died Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.

He was born January 10, 1927 at Milesburg; a son of the late Charles Korman and Edith Hassinger Korman.

On October 14, 1950 he married Eleanor “Margie” Boyd Korman who preceded him in death June 22, 1982.

Mr. Korman served in the U. S. Navy during World War II from June 30, 1944 to June 29, 1946 earning the rank of Seaman Second Class. He earned a Victory Medal and an American Theater Medal

Early in life Leonard worked at the brickyard in Port Matilda, then for Pennsylvania State University and later worked for O. W. Houts in State College as an appliance repairman. He later owned and operated Korman’s Appliance Repair in State College for many years.

He was a member of Martha United Methodist Church at Port Matilda, PA.

He enjoyed bowling, having been a member of a bowling league. He also enjoyed hunting and had a deep interest in model trains of all gauges.

Surviving Mr. Korman are two sons Leonard (Lenny) Charles Korman and his wife Leanne of rural Bellefonte, and Thomas Eugene Korman of Stormstown, ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; and one brother James Robert Korman of Port Matilda.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen, Kathryn, Dorothy, and Patsy Ann and two brothers, Richard and Harold.

A visitation without the body present will be held from 2 - 4 on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The memorial service will follow immediately at 4 pm; with the Reverend Kathleen Danley officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Arch Spring Cemetery near Tyrone.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College.
