Miriam J. Chilcoat, 91, of State College died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at her residence.

Born July 9, 1926 in Ashland, PA she was the daughter of the late Wellington J. and Mary Alice (Lee) Madenfort.

On June 15, 1947 she married Ralph Chilcoat who preceded her in death on June 15, 2002.

Miriam was a member of the Houserville UMC House of Hope Church, the Order of the Eastern Star #388 in State College, PARSE and the Senior Citizens of Bellefonte.

She retired from the Registrar’s Office at Penn State University after 22 years of service.

Miriam is survived by two sons, Lee Chilcoat (Lori) of Columbia, PA and Thomas Chilcoat of State College; three daughters, Cheryl Kahner of State College, Jacqueline Shivery (Jerry) of Bellefonte and Barbara Sowash (Jeff) of Pennsylvania Furnace; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her three siblings, Louise Jones, Wellington “Duke” and James Madenfort.

Family and friends will be received 10-11AM, Friday, October 20, 2017 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with the Reverend Dr. Renee Ford officiating. Interment will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
