Raised in Ulysses, PA he was a 1960 graduate of Northern Potter High School. He attended Penn State University and received a degree in engineering out of Washington, DC. He raised his family in Entriken, then later lived in Berks County.

Nick enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He was self employed as a guide on Raystown Lake, worked in construction, and was a crew leader for the Pennsylvania Conservation Corps. He was also a jeweler, dealt in antique fishing tackle, and had a radio show called Going Fishin'. He was the original president of the Raystown Striper Club. With the club he built and operated, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, the state’s first Cooperative Warm Water Nursery for striped bass.

Nick is survived by companion Cynthia Smith of Shillington, daughter Erin Lambert and granddaughter Taylor of Hesston, stepson Brandon Saylor of Altoona, brother Ken Lambert and wife Jean of Ulysses, sister, A. Jean Blanchard of Ulysses, and sister Sarah Lambert of Quakertown.
