Obituary for Carl R. Workman

Carl R.  Workman
Carl R. Workman, 96, of Lemont, died February 18, 2017 at his daughter's home in Grampian, PA.

Born May 17, 1920 in Connellsville, PA he was the son of the late Daniel and Mary “Ruth” Whipkey Workman.

Carl was the husband of the late Cora E. (Kenyon) Workman who preceded him in death in 1966 and Jane Louise (Holderman) Workman in 2009.

He was a WWII Army veteran. He retired from Murata Erie and owned his own janitorial service company; he worked well into his 80’s.

Carl was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church in Colyer. He loved his family and his church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, reading and watching westerns.

He is survived by one son, Daniel G. Workman (Melissa) of Lemont; one daughter, Terri Vogel (Ed) of Grampian; one brother, George “Bill” Workman of Jeannette, PA; five grandchildren, Stephanie McGhee (Larry), Matthew C. Workman (Laura) Jason Vogel (Sharon), Andrew and Alea Vogel; five great grandchildren, Larissa, Eryka, Vanessa, Cora and Grace, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Marie Schrock, Harry Workman, Anna Mae Hoover, Dorothy Nelson and Hilda Nazer.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Friday, February 24, 2017 and Saturday, Feb 25th from noon-1PM at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. A funeral service will be held 1 PM at the funeral home with the Pastor Theresa Heiser officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery, Colyer, with military honors.
