Thelma L.  Dean (Chilcoat)
Thelma L. (Chilcoat) Dean, 97, formerly of Pleasant Gap, died Monday, January 23, 2017 at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall.

Born April 27, 1919 in Lewistown she was a daughter of the late Lorenzia B. and Pearl (Wirtz) Chilcoat.

On February 19, 1948 she married Irvin A. “Shinny” Dean who preceded her in death on February 22, 1994.

She was a member of the Houserville UMC House of Hope and was a member of their quilting group.

Thelma loved her family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren who were the most important part of her life. She enjoyed the Grange Fair, family vacations in Canada, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and crafts.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen Joann Spong (the late Robert L.) and Linda D. Kern (Randy) both of Bellefonte; three granddaughters, Diane Kerstetter (Kirk), Deborah Lange (Greg) and Michele Mease (Frank); eight great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Thelma is also survived by Jennifer Wasson and Eric Nicholson who were near and dear to her heart.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Hoover and Hulda Haag; two brothers, Ralph and Robert Chilcoat and a granddaughter, Jennifer L. Bickel.

The family would like to thank Wynwood House and their staff for their excellent and loving care of Thelma over the past nine years. Wynwood was her home.

Visitation will be 10-11AM, Friday, January 27, 2017 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with The Reverend Dr. Renee Ford officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Centre County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Thelma’s name may be made to her daughter’s churches. Faith United Methodist Church; 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823 or New Hope United Methodist Church, 1089 East College Avenue, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
