Obituary for James D. Stever

James D.  Stever
James D. Stever, 84, of Pleasant Gap died Monday, November 14, 2016, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born March 7, 1932, in Mapleton Depot, PA, he was the son of the late Homer and Beulah (Ward) Stever.
On April 9, 1960, he married Frances K. Eboch who survives in Pleasant Gap.

He was a member of the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church. He was a Charter member and past president of the Pleasant Gap Lions Club, and also served a term as secretary for district 14-G. He served as a little league coach for both of his sons. He retired from Penn State University in December 1989, as an assistant bursar. He was retired as Captain of the Army Reserve.

Jim was devoted to God, family and country. He always attended sporting events and other events his children and grandchildren participated in. He had a great sense of humor. He loved spending time in the Outer Banks.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Alan (Sheila) Stever of Bellefonte and Craig Stever of Pleasant Gap; one brother, George (Evelyn) of Altoona; two grandsons, Erik of Pleasant Gap and Alan, Jr. of Bellefonte; a foster daughter, Gina Shreber of Bellefonte and her daughters, Jasmine and Nathalia; and two step-granddaughters, Randi and Dayna Brewer of Bellefonte.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Cynthia; three brothers, Thomas, Richard and William Stever; and one sister, Sara Markle.

Family and friends will be received at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, 179 S. Main Street, Pleasant Gap. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in James name may be made to the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church.
